Top notes

I've sniffed you before. I genuinely enjoy smelling people. People I love, people I don't know, people. And cats (but that's another post) If I had to sacrifice one of my senses I'd have a really hard time letting my nose go. Smells trigger old memories and mark new ones. It's a technique I've refined. There's a certain span of time immediately after someone walks past you that is ideal for breathing in their smell. Sometimes it's perfume, sometimes it's shampoo, and sometimes it's weed. But everyone has a smell, and I take it all in. I do have to admit that the sweaty smoky flegmy dude behind me at Walmart last week was an incident where I timed my breathing so carefully as to not experience any bit of him. Today as I write this I'm sitting in a hallway with a moderate amount of traffic. The airflow is amazing and I can smell everything. Today is different than usual however.. Today it rained. The humidity in the air is like a tangible film that re-wets your skin and hair. It releases the scents as strong as their first application. This chick, 7 feet away from me, has wavy locks of damp hair that smells fresh and invigorating. I'm loving this.

  1. My husband does that too! It's so funny. He went on his mission to Brazil and it's just part of their culture to smell people. Everyone thought he was weird when he came home because he would sniff you when he met you. LOL.
